Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 26, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information SkillJet.co (“SkillJet,” “we,” “us”) collects, how we use it, what is shared with AI providers and other third parties, and the choices and rights you have over your data. By creating an account or using any SkillJet feature, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Who we are

SkillJet.co is operated by [SkillJet operating entity name], a company registered in [jurisdiction] with registered address at [registered address]. For any privacy request, contact us at [privacy email]. (These bracketed details should be replaced with your official legal entity information before publication.)

2. What data we collect

2.1 Information you provide

  • Account data: name, email address, password (stored as a one-way hash), and role.
  • Profile & study data: exam goals, target exam dates, study plans, diagnostic results, practice attempts, and progress history.
  • Uploaded content: essays, thesis abstracts, academic text, documents (PDF, DOCX, images), and any files you submit to tools such as the Essay Auditor, Fact Verifier, Citation Engine, or Document Verifier.
  • Voice recordings: audio captured for the Viva Simulator and voice-based features, recorded in your browser and transcribed for analysis.
  • Payment data: billing details and transaction identifiers processed by our payment provider. We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
  • Communications: messages you send to our AI Coach or to human tutors, and any support requests.

2.2 Information collected automatically

  • Device and browser type, IP address, approximate location, and usage logs (pages viewed, features used, timestamps).
  • Cookies and similar technologies (see Section 8).

3. What gets sent to AI providers

To power features such as the AI Coach, essay auditing, study-plan generation, and fact verification, the text and documents you submit are sent to third-party AI model providers (for example, OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, and ElevenLabs for speech). When you use a feature, the relevant input — such as your essay text, a question, a transcript, or an uploaded document’s extracted content — is transmitted to the provider so it can return a response.

We select providers that offer enterprise or API terms designed to limit training on submitted data where available, and we avoid using consumer chat products for processing your content. However, we cannot guarantee how a provider handles your data beyond its published terms, and you should review the provider’s privacy policy if this matters to you.

4. Whether uploaded documents are retained

Uploaded files and the content you generate are stored in your SkillJet account so you can view results, re-run audits, and track progress. Files uploaded to public storage are accessible via a URL we generate; files uploaded to private storage require a time-limited signed link. We retain your uploaded content for as long as your account is active, plus a short grace period to allow recovery, unless you delete it earlier.

5. Whether your data is used for model training

No. We do not use your essays, documents, voice recordings, or personal content to train our own models, and we configure our AI provider agreements to opt out of training on your submitted data wherever the provider offers that option. Aggregate, de-identified usage statistics may be used to improve our products, but never in a form that identifies you or your content.

6. Deletion procedures & account deletion

  • Delete specific content: you can delete individual uploaded files, sessions, or saved items from within the relevant feature at any time.
  • Delete your account: email [privacy email] from your registered address, or use the in-app account deletion option if available, and we will erase your account and personal data within 30 days.
  • Retention after deletion: we may retain limited records (such as transaction records or abuse-prevention logs) where required by law, but your content and study data will be permanently removed.

7. Payment processing

Payments are processed by our third-party payment provider (currently PayPal, with Stripe for card payments in supported regions). Payment card data is handled entirely by the provider and is never stored on SkillJet servers. We retain only the order identifier, amount, and status needed to manage your subscription or coin balance. Refund and dispute terms are described in our Terms of Service.

8. Cookies & analytics

We use cookies and local storage to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and measure traffic. We use analytics services (such as Google Analytics) and conversion-tracking tools that may set their own cookies. These tools receive aggregated usage data; they do not receive your essay or document content. You can disable cookies in your browser, though some features may not work correctly without them.

9. Data security

We protect your data with industry-standard measures: encrypted transport (HTTPS), hashed passwords, role-based access controls, and row-level isolation so that one user cannot access another’s records. Access to production data is restricted to authorized personnel. No method of transmission or storage is fully secure, but we work to protect your information and to notify affected users promptly in the event of a breach.

10. Third-party processors

We rely on the following categories of third-party processors, each under its own privacy policy:

  • AI model providers — for generating explanations, audits, and speech.
  • Payment providers — for processing purchases.
  • Hosting & database infrastructure — for serving the application and storing data.
  • Analytics & email providers — for usage measurement and transactional/nurture email.

We do not sell your personal data to any third party.

11. Children’s & student data

SkillJet is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under that age. For students using SkillJet through an institution, the institution is responsible for ensuring appropriate consent and compliance with applicable student-data laws (such as FERPA in the US). If you believe a child has provided us with data, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Your privacy rights

Depending on your location (for example, under the GDPR or similar laws), you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Delete your data and your account.
  • Restrict or object to certain processing.
  • Receive a copy of your data in a portable format.
  • Withdraw consent to processing that relies on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, email [privacy email].

13. International transfers

Your data may be processed in countries other than your own, including by AI and payment providers located in the United States and elsewhere. We rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) where required to lawfully transfer data across borders.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here with a new “Last updated” date and, for material changes, provide notice in the app or by email. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
